A Level company - serving Newark, NJ

Meet the Team - Level Two Chimney Newark

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Meet the Newark Team Behind Level Two Chimney Newark

We’re a small crew and we like it that way. Every tech who shows up at a Newark door works under the same set of rules that have been in place since 2009: a written price before anyone starts, a camera scan of the flue, and a photo record handed over when the job’s done. That’s not a corporate talking point. It’s Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, and it means the person standing in your living room is accountable for the work, by name. Here’s who that person is.

Our People

Marcus T. – Lead Technician

Marcus has been running chimney crews in Essex County for fourteen years, the last six of them with Level Two Chimney Newark. He’s the one who walks the roof first, and he can usually tell you what’s wrong before he even drops the camera down the flue. His specialty is diagnosing liner failures in pre-1940 row houses, which Newark has plenty of. The Ironbound alone keeps him busy every fall. Marcus is a certified NFPA 211 Level 2 inspector, which means he’s trained to evaluate the entire chimney system, not just the part you can see from the hearth. He lives in the Forest Hill neighborhood and spends his weekends restoring a 1972 Chevy pickup he will never finish.

Dana R. – Senior Installer

Dana runs our liner and rebuild work, which is the heavy end of the trade. She’s the person who measures the flue dimensions, orders the DuraFlex or HeatShield materials, and makes sure the new liner actually fits the old masonry instead of fighting it. Before joining us in 2018, she spent a decade doing masonry restoration on churches and municipal buildings across northern New Jersey. That background shows. When she tells you a crown needs full replacement rather than patching, she’ll point to the spalled concrete in the photos and explain exactly what happens if you wait another season. Dana is one of two people in the company certified to install HeatShield Cerfractory flue sealant, and she’s the one we trust with the most complicated chimney rebuilds in the city.

Priya N. – Service Coordinator

Priya is the voice on the other end of (862) 245-4309 when you call. She’s been with Level Two Chimney Newark for five years and knows the Newark schedule better than anyone else in the building. Her job is to get you a written quote before a tech ever stands in your driveway, and to make sure the person we send is the right one for the problem you’re describing. Priya grew up in Newark’s Weequahic section and can tell you which streets in the North Ward tend to have crowned-over flues from the 1920s. She’s also the one who texts you when your technician is on the way, with the tech’s name included. If you call at 10pm with a water leak around the chimney, Priya answers. The phone never goes to a voicemail.

Luis G. – Apprentice Technician

Luis is in his second year with the crew and works directly with Marcus on most calls. He handles the ground-level work: staging the drop cloths, running the camera system, documenting liner condition before and after, and compiling the photo record that gets sent to you when the job closes. Before joining us, Luis worked residential gutters and exterior repair in the South Ward, so he’s comfortable on a steep Newark rooftop in February. He’s currently studying for his own NFPA 211 certification and has already logged more than 400 supervised chimney inspections. When you see Luis on a job, you’ll notice he asks a lot of questions. That’s the point. We don’t turn an apprentice loose on a live chimney until the habit of documentation is second nature.

One Standard, Every Job

One Standard, Every Job

Level Two Chimney Newark is one location inside a network of ten home-service brands, but the crew you meet on this page is strictly local. We’re independently owned and operated, and every technician who carries our gear is background-checked, uniformed, and accountable under the same written standard we’ve run since 2009. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard requires a written price, written scope, and written warranty before any work starts. Clause 4 requires a documented photo record on every visit. No one on this crew gets paid a commission for selling you a liner you don’t need. If a camera scan shows a chimney can safely wait another season, that’s what the report says. It’s the only way we know to stay in business in a city with as many old flues as Newark, and the only way Marcus, Dana, Priya, and Luis want to work.
